WHAT IS MICROBLADING?
Microblading is a manual brow tattooing method where the thinnest hair strokes are created with pigment using a hand held disposable sterile tool, NOT A MACHINE. The pigment is deposited beneath the surface of the skin. The goal of Microblading is to create a very natural looking brow. Please be aware, this technique may NOT eliminate the need for brow make-up, depending on your desired look. The pigments used for microblading are designed to gently fade over time. Fading is desired as it allows for changes to color and shape over the years as client’s natural coloration and facial changes occur. Regular touch-ups are required to maintain desired look.
AM I A GOOD CANDIDATE FOR MICROBLADING?
Microblading is NOT for everyone. You CANNOT have microblading if any of the following apply to you…
You are under 18 years old.
You are pregnant or nursing.
You have a history of MRSA.
You have psoriasis or other skin condition on or around your brows.
You have uncontrolled high blood pressure.
You are on blood thinners and cannot stop their use for 2 weeks.
You have a history of keloid or hypertrophic scarring.
You are currently getting cancer treatments (must wait 2 months post treatment).
You are currently using Accutane (must be off for at least 1 year).
You have dark/solid existing permanent makeup. Or old microblading that has changed colors (tattoo lightening/removal may be necessary - or a Powder brow could be considered). *If you are interested in correction work or lightening, schedule a consult now. Microblading will NOT cover or correct.
Microblading will most likely NOT heal well if any of the following apply to you…
You have oily/combo skin and/or large pores on your forehead, a rough or ruddy skin type (pigment will not retain properly- causing fading & fuzzy/blurred strokes). OILY/COMBO/ROUGH & RUDDY SKIN? AN OMBRE POWDER BROW IS A BETTER OPTION FOR YOU!
You are a smoker (pigment will not retain properly, colors may distort).
You have an auto-immune disease.
You have Diabetes type 1 or 2 (due to slow healing and infection, color may or may not retain well).
You have thyroid/graves disease (medication may cause pigment to not retain properly).
You have rosacea or anemia (pigment may not retain properly).
**Please note: if you are under a doctor’s care for ANY condition, it is highly recommending that you meet with your doctor and get verbal and written approval.
***IF ANY OF THE ABOVE APPLY TO YOU, YOU ARE BETTER SUITED FOR ANOTHER TYPE OF BROW PMU. CLICK HERE TO FIND OUT MORE ABOUT OMBRE POWDER BROWS AND COMBO BROWS!
HOW LONG DOES MICROBLADING LAST?
Regular touch-up are required to maintain your desired look. NO GUARANTEES can be made as to how long results will last. Microblading is an art, NOT a science. That being said, the average person would need to have their microbladed brows touched up/color boosted in about a year. The pigments are designed to gently fade over time. BUT results will vary from person to person. Everyone’s skin is different, it is very important that each client understands that we cannot guarantee how long the pigment will be retained in your skin. Retention depends on your skin type, texture, oiliness, aftercare and lifestyle.
IS MICROBLADING A TEMPORARY OR SEMI-PERMANENT TATTOO?
Microblading has been marketed as a semi-permanent tattoo. That is because it will fade in time and periodic touch-ups are needed to maintain it. Using the word temporary is wrong in my professional opinion. Microblading is cosmetic tattooing. I am using a tool to open your skin and pigment is being deposited into the skin. Will your microblading fade completely if not touched up? It is hard to say. And most likely there will always be color left after having a cosmetic tattoo of this sort.
WILL I STILL HAVE TO TWEEZE OR WAX MY BROWS?
Yes. Your hair will continue to grow.
WILL I STILL NEED TO WEAR BROW MAKE-UP?
You might, depending on your desired look. Microblading is meant to enhance your natural brows, creating fine hair like strokes. If you prefer a more defined or filled in look, YES you will still need make-up to achieve that. OR CONSIDER AN OMBRE POWDER BROW or COMBO BROW for a more filled look.
DOES IT HURT?
Pain threshold levels vary from person to person. Any tattooing can be uncomfortable. I use a numbing liquid throughout the procedure to help with comfort. Having this service performed during your menstrual cycle may increase discomfort. If you are a frequent smoker, the topical anesthetics used during the treatment will not last as long. If you have been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia, be aware that this may affect your sensitivity. If you have a very low tolerance for pain, this procedure may not be for you.
WHAT CAN I EXPECT DURING THE HEALING PROCESS?
Healing can be a very hard process for some. I will try to make sure you are as informed as possible to avoid any surprises during the healing process.
YOUR NEW MICROBLADED EYEBROWS WILL GO THROUGH SEVERAL PHASES DURING THE HEALING CYCLE.
FIRST- The pigment will appear very sharp and dark immediately after the procedure. Your brow area may be swollen and your brows may look and/or feel thicker - Just breathe, give it time and trust the process.
NEXT – You may experience scabbing. It may not look pretty. DO NOT PICK! Don’t make it worse! If the scabs come off before they are ready, you will be left with no pigment! DO NOT PICK! I cannot stress this enough, DO NOT PICK.
LASTLY - The color of the pigment will soften, for some, the pigment may seem to disappear. Again, just breathe and trust the process. During this time, it will look like dandruff flakes or dry skin over your brows. This might give you the impression that the color pigment is fading too quickly, however, this is just superficial color and dry skin being naturally sloughed from your eyebrows.
WHAT IS AFTERCARE LIKE?
I will provide you with very specific aftercare instructions. You are required to follow these to the best of your ability. (Click here to read the complete aftercare.) In short, you will keep your brows clean and dry while they heal. Your new brows cannot get wet for 10-14 days (avoid water/moisture at all costs! No shower stream, no pool, no sauna, no steam, no excessive work outs, no sweating). You will put NOTHING on your brows unless specified by your aftercare until they have NATURALLY shed any flakes or scabs, typically day 10-14. Obviously, you’ll want to allow 2 weeks if you have an event or special occasion coming up!
DOES EVERYONE NEED A TOUCH-UP?
Microblading is a two step procedure. Everyone will need a touch-up or perfecting appointment.
Please note: Your complimentary touch-up session is performed no sooner than 6 weeks after your initial Microblading appointment and no later than 12 weeks after your initial session. If for ANY reason you do not complete your touch-up 6-12 weeks after the initial procedure, there will be a charge for your touch-up**

WHAT ABOUT LONG TERM MICROBLADING UP-KEEP? WHAT AM I IN FOR?
In the long term, you will always apply sunscreen to your brows. The sun WILL fade and distort the color. You will NEVER use chemical exfoliants (retinols, alpha hydroxy acids, salicylic acid ect) on your brows - it will prematurely fade and distort the color. You will treat the brows kindly once healed, using gentle cleansers & mild physical exfoliants only, keeping them hydrated and healthy. No strong facial treatments over the brows, especially laser (always let your clinician know that your brows are tattooed so they can avoid the area). You will get periodic touch-ups and color boosts to maintain your desired look.
NOTE: Please be realistic with your brow expectations, although symmetry is always our goal, no one's face is 100% perfectly symmetrical. IT IS NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE FOR EYEBROWS TO BE PERFECT MIRROR IMAGES OF ONE ANOTHER, you've heard the saying "brows are sisters, not twins", that applies with this treatment. Microblading is a very delicate and intricate technique, your results depend on your skin and lifestyle, results cannot be guaranteed. **We reserve the right to refuse service to ANYONE at any time- please have realistic brow expectations.
